Jan. 28, 2013

I have made it Washington!!  On Tuesday, Jan. 22 we spent the day in training and did some proselyting.  I found out who my new companion is and what area I would be assigned to.  I was also able to give a 4 year old a blessing.
My first week in my new area has been great.  It has been very rainy and cloudy.  I've only seen the sun for about 20 minutes since Wednesday.  We are staying in the attic of a members home and it's very cozy (I have to duck to go through the door).
My companion and I had a great lesson with a less active part/member family about the Plan of Salvation, which got them thinking about joining the church and getting active again.

MTC week 2

This week is going very well and very fast. The days in the MTC are very structured. Up at 6:30, breakfast at 7:20, then depending on the day we either go to the gym for an hour or have class for 3 hours. Then we have personal, doctrinal study or zone teaching. Then we break for lunch and have another 3 hours of class. Then we have TRC (training resource center) which we will have zone teaching and then dinner. After dinner we have until 9:30 to study and plan for the next day. Sundays are a little more relaxed.
I've learned how to teach people and how to invite someone to be baptized. We've taught the first lesson and have it memorized.
The things that we teach come right out of Preach My Gospel. They say its your beat friend out in the field and going out with the missionaries really helped me a lot to know what to do in some situations.
I'm running out of time. I leave Tuesday, January 22 to go to Washington. I'll call you from the airport before I board the plane.
Love,

MTC week 1

MTC  has been great so far. The days are beginning to blur together.  Getting up at 6:30 can be a challenging sometimes but I try to get up as close to that time as possible.

Everyone is friendly and everyone in my district are great friends.

Everyone in my district has avoided the flu so far.  I've been taking the vitamin C that Lee gave me.  The flu also seems to be winding down here.

Scott was ready to enter the MTC and begin the training he will need to bring souls unto Christ.  He will make a great missionary!!!  Can't wait to hear about the experiences he will have in Washington.
